Are you considering planning a gay wedding in France? Your wedding day is such an exciting time, especially when you’re planning a destination wedding! France can be a great place for gay couples to get married because of the wide acceptance and celebration of LGBTQ+ couples. We’re excited to share a couple’s recent wedding we loved – Kevin and Steven’s!
Pétillante Weddings is a fully accepting and affirming wedding planning company. We welcome everyone and are excited to celebrate your love and your story as a couple! No matter who you love, what you look like, or which type of traditions you wish to practice during your wedding day, we will be here cheering you on each step of the way!
Kevin and Steven both grew up in New England – Kevin in Buffalo, New York and Steven in southwest Virginia. Kevin and Steven are both major sports and travel lovers, always infusing excitement in their lives together. They even took an engagement trip to Paris the spring after getting engaged. So, of course, when the opportunity came up, they had to get married in France! The couple is from New York but they had family fly over for their wedding from all over the U.S.
Bordeaux, renowned for its exquisite wine, architecture, and culture, provided the perfect backdrop for Kevin and Steven’s wedding. The chateau that Kevin and Steven chose, Chateau Borgeat De Lagrange, was stunning! When we chatted about their design interests, their preference was overall more minimalist and simplistic. Two of their biggest priorities were ensuring their guests had fun and having good food, which is fairly easy to achieve in France!
The day included plenty of thoughtful and classic details, including their gray and powder blue suits, engraved wine sets, red ring boxes, and matching leather shoes. They got ready in the chateau, taking time to enjoy a dance together before proceeding to the ceremony.
The ceremony was nothing short of amazing – the minimalistic yet colorful vibe that they were going for.
Many of our couples decide to get married in France because of the incredible food here. You’ll get access to premium wine selections, colorful and delicious hors d’oeuvres, fresh entrees, and tasty desserts. From bread with cheeses and jams to jambon (ham) appetizers and colorful, floral details, Kevin and Steve’s menu was mouth watering.
Let’s get started! France offers many advantages for gay and lesbian couples looking to get married here. In 2013, France legalized same-sex marriage, making it one of the early adopters of marriage equality in Europe. For French citizens, French law ensures that same-sex couples have the same rights and responsibilities as heterosexual couples. Although you’ll likely get married legally in your country, this is a nice thing to know about French culture. France is also known for its acceptance and celebration of diversity. Kevin and Steven were embraced by the warm welcome of the staff at their venue to the open-hearted local vendors who helped bring their wedding to life. At Pétillante Weddings, we’re also here for all of our couples, each and every step of the way.
Whether you’re seeking wedding management services or full service planning, we’re experts in getting you connected with the right French vendors to make your wedding spectacular. Our dates are first come first serve and we can book out months in advance, so be sure to reach out as soon as you’ve decided to get married in France!
