That’s exactly what Jessica and Cèdric’s wedding day looked like when they tied the knot last June.

And 2) We’re excited to show you what’s possible. This stunning wedding has all the elements of unforgettable memories. The romance of a historic château, those dreamy French garden vibes, and thoughtful details that made the whole celebration feel effortlessly elegant.
We’ll tell you what made this wedding so special and what you need to know if you’re considering France for your own destination wedding.

Sure, there’s a certain level of romanticism that just comes standard in France. Our most famous city is known as ‘the city of love’, after all. France is steeped in intimacy, romance, and love. From its stunning architecture and its vibrant culture to the French language itself. It’s the kind of place that makes you understand why couples plan across time zones and coordinate international guest lists to get married here. Because some locations are more than just venues—they become experiences woven into your love story.
But beyond the inherent romance, France offers something practical that makes destination wedding planning actually manageable: accessibility.
Guests flying in from the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, or elsewhere can find direct or easy connecting flights to just about anywhere in France you choose to get married.
The Bordeaux region specifically is compact enough that your venue, accommodations, and celebration activities can all be within a short drive of each other. Which means less logistics stress and more time enjoying the experience together. And unlike some European destinations that feel touristy or overly polished, many regions, like Bordeaux, maintain their authentic French charm. You get working vineyards, local markets, real village life — the France your guests imagined when they booked their tickets.

Jessica and Cèdric got married at the Alexandra Palace. A historic 17th-century château in the Deux-Sèvres, located in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of western France. The centuries-old castle has a rich history (literally and figuratively). It was previously home to prestigious families in the region before serving as the primary residence for Senator Léopold Goirand in the early 20th century.
It’s exactly the kind of venue that makes you stop your scrolling immediately when you see it. The pink-hued stone facade with its ornate architectural details, the manicured gardens stretching out in every direction, those perfectly symmetrical windows. It’s the storybook version of the French countryside you picture in your mind while daydreaming about a destination wedding.
This June celebration took full advantage of everything the château and its grounds had to offer. Cocktail hour was at the front of the château, while the outdoor reception took place at the back on the gravel courtyard. Long banquet-style tables created that communal, festive atmosphere that European weddings do so well. White Napoleon chairs kept things elegant, while the pops of bold pink and red florals in vintage glass bottles added just the right amount of color without feeling overdone.

The tablescape was simple but striking. With its all-white linens, classic place settings, and the aforementioned pop-of-color floral arrangements running down the center of the long table. Small personalized details like the kraft paper favor tags reading “Keys to Love,” paired with key-shaped bottle opener favors, and printed menus added the sort of thoughtful touches that felt just right for the moment and the setting. The design wasn’t trying too hard, which is exactly what made it work so well as the understated star of the show.
Inside the château, the ornate white moldings and gold chandeliers provided the perfect backdrop for the wedding cake, it was a classic four-tier design adorned with cream puffs (a nod to the traditional French croquembouche) and delicate gold leaf accents. Having both the formal indoor spaces and sprawling outdoor grounds available for the day meant the celebration could flow naturally from cocktail hour to dinner to dancing without anyone feeling cramped or disconnected from the moment.
Cèdric and Jessica’s June timing was ideal here. The gardens were lush and green, the weather cooperative enough for an entirely outdoor dinner, golden hour really showed off for the photo session, and that soft evening light made everything feel romantic without needing to add any extra effort. Surrounded by the golf course that wraps around Alexandra Palace, the setting felt expansive and effortlessly scenic. When you choose the right venue for the right season, the location really does all the heavy lifting for you.

If this château wedding has you daydreaming about your own wedding getaway in France, we certainly don’t blame you! More couples are discovering, seemingly by the month, that the logistics of a French destination wedding are far more manageable than they ever could’ve expected. And when the payoff of getting married in a place this beautiful is worth every bit of planning, why would you not seriously consider it as an option?
Whether you’re drawn to the Bordeaux region specifically or you’re still exploring the many different France wedding locations this beautiful country has to offer, having a planner who actually lives and works here makes all the difference. When you’re doing cross-country logistics, it’s especially important to have someone helping you plan who knows the culture, has worked with the venues before, speaks the language, understands how French vendors operate, and can help you and your guests navigate everything from accommodations to transportation.
That’s exactly what we do at Pétillante Weddings. We’re based in Bordeaux and specialize in creating unforgettable destination weddings for couples traveling from the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia. If you’re ready to start planning your French destination wedding, we would be honored to work hand-in-hand with you to make your dream wedding a reality.
