So you’re ready to take on the challenge of planning your wedding in France? Parlez-vous français? or at least un peu?
Whether you speak fluent French or none at all, it will be important to have some key vocabulary in your French Wedding Word Bank to get you started in the supplier search!
Ok, before diving in, let’s just state the obvious right away. There is nothing particularly exciting about vocabulary – nothing Oh la la about it – however I guarantee that doing simple research with these KEY WORDS will open you up to a whole community of suppliers that you wouldn’t have come across with a simple search in English.
Maybe you’re saying…
“I get that, but I’m searching in English because I need suppliers that speak English. If I search with French words, I’m going to get French suppliers that don’t speak English.”
That’s may be true, but let me tell you about the ALL the exceptions to that rule…
As a planner, I work with some of the best Frenchies in the business who speak fluent English, but they don’t flaunt it because, believe it or not, the French tend to be a modest bunch 🙂 For the most part, they just haven’t gotten around to translating their website or posting in English. They’re great at what they do, but less talented in the marketing & advertising department…
And let’s talk about the money you’ll save working with a caterer that’s 15km away versus one that’s 200km away. Sourcing locally is often the key to keeping on budget and often those local suppliers don’t pop up when you search in English…
So, do you want to connect with amazing French suppliers? Would you prefer to work with someone locally? Do you want an easy way to stay on budget? If so, it’s as simple as using a few Key French Words & Phrases the next time you open your browser….
